A lot of people would agree that the poker community is much like the PC games community for one main reason: it is built up by a lot of males and barely any females at all. As poker has become a wide world sport and recognized as a game of skills, more and more women have appeared on the stage. We have seen them at World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker and many other high profile tournaments. And let’s not forget all the TV shows with just female poker professionals. If you’re into poker and if you like beautiful women, then you must have heard of Evybabee, or perhaps Evy. This is one of the top performers in women’s poker and also one of the best-looking (not that that has to do anything with poker). Her real name is Evelyn Ng, born and raised in 1975, Toronto, Canada. Like many other poker celebrities of today, she discovered poker at an early age and moved to the heart of gambling, Las Vegas. Evelyn already had plenty experience with poker and black jack prior to her change of citizenship. When she got to Vegas, she quickly got a job as a dealer at the casinos. But instead of just dealing cards, she studied the players at the high stake tables and polished her own skills. Hour after hour with chips and cards also helped her pick up on a few tricks you can do with your bare hands. When you see her in play at the poker table, she will more than gladly show her opponents how to swing chips and do all these clicking sounds that we’re familiar with. After many months of dealing, she decided to give no-limit Texas Hold’em a shot. Evelyn entered a World Poker Tour Ladies Night satellite and exceeded her own expectations. Little did she know that she would get as far as second place at the final table. Despite not being a winner, she acquired a lot of media attention because of her beauty, the chips tricks at the table and her sense of humor. Evelyn’s success did not end at the Ladies Night event. She participated in several World Poker Tour events, and at the 2005 of the main event, she finished at an utterly respectable 22nd place. A year before that, she finished at 29th place at the Bellagio Five Diamond Poker Classic event. Evelyn hasn’t had any major victories at any of the major tournaments, but the massive attention she receives for participating in various card related events is enough to make a living out of it. One example is her participation in Daniel Negreanu’s poker video game, Stacked, in which she appears with thousands of polygons, forming her body in a 3D environment. If you know Daniel, you’d not be surprised to know that he has tutored Evelyn on several occasions to help improve her skills. Besides playing live poker, Evelyn is employed by Team Poker Stars and can be found at medium and high stake tables at Poker Stars. If you haven’t guessed it by now, you should look for “evybabee”. But once you face her, be sure to watch out as she has beaten many legends of poker in real life. |
